Ranger ChallengeThe Pirate Battalion has done it again! After 2 consecutive 1st place finishes, a team of exceptional Cadets traveled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and took 2nd out of 39 teams in the All American Brigade’s 2009 Ranger Challenge contest. The competition was fierce as we went up against schools from Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The Pirate Battalion’s Ranger Challenge team spent two grueling days competing in events such as day and night land navigation, rifle marksmanship, a physical fitness test, and a 10k road march with combat gear and rucksack. The team placed in 5 of the 8 events taking 1st in the Hand Grenade Assault Course, 2nd in the APFT, Written Land Navigation, and Night Land Navigation, and 3rd in the 10k Road March. As a result of the battalion’s dominating victories in Ranger Challenge last year, the team was selected to represent Cadet Command at the United State’s Military Academy’s “Sandhurst” competition which was held at West Point, New York on April 2009.
