About Our Office

Welcome to East Carolina University’s Office of International Affairs!

As the University’s central point of contact for international activity, we do many things:

• We oversee summer study abroad programs in over a dozen locations
• We conduct international studentexchange programs with universities in 35 countries overseas
• We recruit and offer programs for ECU’s ever-expanding international student population
• We manage the University’sinternational linkages with twenty sister universities in a dozencountries
• We support an active program of faculty development and exchange
• We furnish services for ECU’s several visiting international scholars
• We provide funding through the Rivers Endowment for both student and faculty activities
• We conduct international education outreach into our local community

Our aim in all of this activity is to provide a heightened awarenessoncampus and its surrounding environs of global issues, and tosupportthe University’s commitment to increase diversity in its facultyandstudent bodies. While these are serious goals, we try not totakeourselves too seriously. We try to be the friendliest office atEastCarolina, to hold the best social events on campus, and to run themostenjoyable University programs.
