ECU students intern with robotic surgery team
Two Honors College students, Aenia Amin and Zachary Elliott, spent their summer working with ECU leaders in robotic heart surgery. Recipients of the 2015 East Carolina Heart Institute Robotic Surgery Internship, they were able to observe robotic heart valve replacements, lobectomies and neonatal heart procedures. The icompetitive program exposes undergraduates to laboratory research methods, surgical treatments and an integrated cardiovascular disease program.
Three medical students earn top scholarshipThree medical students at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine have been awarded the most prestigious scholarship available at the university. Anthony “Tony” Botros, John Hurley and Catherine Thriveni have been chosen for the Class of 2019 Brody Scholar award.
White Coat Ceremony kicks off medical educationEighty students were donned with white coats and officially welcomed to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in an Aug. 14 ceremony that celebrated the privileges and responsibilities associated with a medical education.
