East Carolina's Degree In Three ProgramECU's Degree in Three Program provides high caliber, highly motivated students the opportunity to finish their undergraduate degree in three years rather than the traditional four. The program is particularly appropriate for students with AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate), and/or dual-enrollment credit. The Degree in Three Program isn't right for every student. Motivation and planning are keys to success for the 3-year degree completion student. Degree in Three students have a plan, usually to attend graduate or professional school after graduation, or to get a jump start on their careers. They already know their major or are very close, and are willing to work at an accelerated pace to achieve their goals. The Degree in Three Program's admission standards are also higher than those for four-year students. ECU's Degree in Three Program is challenging, but students don't go it alone. The program involves a partnership between ECU and its participants. Students are assigned a special adviser who will make sure they receive priority registration, in addition to offering up-to-date advice on graduate programs and graduate/professional school application and admission. The first group of Degree in Three students enrolled Summer 2003. This inaugural class earned 7 hours and participated in a variety of activities. The program continues to grow each year. (See "Getting Started.") The first steps in becoming a part of this or any other Succeed Sooner program are (1) to apply to East Carolina University (http://www.ecu.edu/admissions/apps.cfm) and (2) to complete the information request form.
