East Carolina University no longer publishes printed catalogs. Instead, both undergraduate and graduate catalogs are offered online in two formats - a dynamic version and a fixed version. The dynamic version is a continuously updated edition of the academic catalog. It is kept current with curriculum revisions as they are approved by the university and is the official university academic catalog. The fixed version is posted on August 15 of each year to establish the guidelines and regulations under which each incoming class will matriculate.
Both! Students should follow their degree requirements as found in the fixed version of the catalog, but should also use the dynamic version to find the latest information about course offerings and major/minor options.
A degree-seeking student enters ECU under the catalog in effect at the time of his or her official enrollment. This means that a student entering ECU in the fall of 2012, or in the spring of 2013, would follow degree requirements listed in the catalog for the 2012-2013 academic year. A student can choose to graduate under a catalog published after the enrollment date.
