Partners and Cooperators
ECU has established strong working relationships
with federal and non-profit entities to assist in developing the Field
Station concept and program. ECU and the
U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service have an agreement for housing the Field Station
at the Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge in the majestic Mattamuskeet
Lodge, a building of national historic importance. The Partnership
for the Sounds, a non-profit organization with ties to the NC Department
of Environment, Health, and Natural Resources, has provided funding for
modest renovations to the building and major funding for architectural
design.
