The East Carolina University Marching Pirates
Drumline is the rhythmic force behind the ECU Marching Pirates. The ensemble
consists of up to 10 snares, 6 tenors, 6 basses and 10 cymbals, and includes
students from many different majors, not just music majors. In fact, the
majority of the members are NOT music majors. In addition to providing energy,
entertainment and high spirits at athletic events, the ECU Marching Pirates
Drumline performs at high school marching band competitions throughout the
mid-Atlantic region of the United States, provides educational opportunities by
giving clinics during the Fall and Spring semesters and plays a very active role
in recruiting for the university.
