Ninth
Annual ECU Marching Pirates Family Day
Saturday, September 11, 2010
The 2010 East Carolina
University football season is quickly approaching and the East Carolina
University Marching Pirates will soon begin band camp! We will have our
first performance on Sunday, September 5 at home in Dowdy-Ficklen
Stadium when ECU plays Tulsa University in a nationally-televised game
(ESPN2). At this time, the ECU Marching Pirates will unveil its
expanded pregame show in celebration of the new stadium addition at
Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium as well as it’s entirely brand new set of
custom-made Mapex drums and 100 brand new Yamaha wind instruments!!
This season promises to be an exciting one as our football team is set
to “three-peat” their back-to-back Conference USA championships as well
as compete against several teams ranked in the Top 25.
As a parent of a
university band member you are aware of the time, energy and dedication
these students commit to this program. Those of us associated with ECU
Bands are also very aware of your dedication and commitment that has
allowed your children to participate in a program such as this. In
appreciation of your efforts and to provide you an opportunity to be
involved, I would like to invite you to our ninth annual ECU Marching
Pirates Family Day on Saturday, September 11. Kick-off of the ECU-Memphis
game is at 12 noon. We will have an open rehearsal approximately four
hours prior to kick-off. We will then parade to the stadium about 1 ½ hours prior to
kickoff to perform our “Call to Port” pregame concert. Tickets for the
game are available through the ECU Ticket Office at 252-737-4500, or
through their website at
www.ecupirates.com.
Just
let us know by Friday, September 3 if you’d like to attend! You may complete and
submit online form below, or e-mail the information to
MarchingPirates@ecu.edu.
I hope you’ll allow us
to welcome you into our ECU Marching Pirates family. We look forward to
meeting you!
Sincerely,
