Derek Southerland
Low Winds Teaching
Assistant/Equipment
Derek Southerland is a senior music education student at
ECU, and has been active in the band programs through his
time at the university. He has held leadership roles
in the ECU Wind Ensemble, ECU Symphonic Band, ECU Marching
Pirates and ECU Sixth Man Pep Band for four years.
Derek is a brother of the Kappa Sigma chapter of the
National Honorary Band Service Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi,
where he has held leadership roles for the last two years.
Derek was awarded the Pirate Pride Award at the 2009-2010
ECU Marching Pirates Band Banquet, and you'll be hard
pressed to find a bigger pirate fan anywhere! GO PIRATES!!
