JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Peer Mentor
Reports to: Kristen Harris
Scope: Serve as a mentor/role model to first year business students by participating in events targeted toward first year students (Orientation, Welcome Hoopla, Taking Care of Business, Open House, Advising Workshops, & other programs). Mentors will hold weekly office hours and meet with students as indicated and will be responsible for record keeping involved with student contact/office appointments. Mentors encourage active involvement in university and College of Business activities and organizations, serve as positive role models for Mentees, and share experiences and knowledge they have gained as students at ECU.
Mentors will develop and implement programs for first-year business students within and outside of the College of Business Living Learning Community.
Requirements: Students who have achieved academic success and have demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills can serve as Mentors.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS:
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Completion of 60 credit hours
(by August of 2012)
- 2 semesters completed at ECU
- 2 semesters remaining at ECU
- Declaration of Concentration in the College of Business
- Involvement in campus/community service
- In good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
- Full time status (at least 12 hours)
- Attend Leadership Challenge Course
(April 1st - 3rd)

GRADUATE STUDENTS:
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- 1 semester of graduate coursework completed at ECU
- 2 semesters of graduate coursework remaining at ECU
- In good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
- Full time status (at least 9 hours)
- Attend Leadership Challenge Course
(April 1st - 3rd)

Stipend: $500 per semester (not including summer school)
Eligibility: Once selected, you must meet these standards in order to continue as a Mentor.
- Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
- Must remain in good standing with the university
- Involvement in at least one student organization within the College of Business
