Mail Services

Effective Date: 11/03/00

Policy Statement 2: Incoming Mail

The objective of the University Mail Service in handling incoming U.S. Mail for departments is to complete a turnover of all mail each day, thus delivering all incoming mail on the same day of receipt. Incoming U.S. Mail is received at the University Post Office at approximately 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. each day Monday through Friday. Campus deliveries are not made on Saturdays.

Personal Mail

The Campus Mail system should not be used for the receipt of personal mail. Mail order catalogs such as "LL Bean, Yield House, Bass Pro," et al, are not for the University Mail Service to deliver.

Forwarding

The University Mail Service maintains a Central Mail Forwarding System for the purpose of forwarding mail after a student, faculty, or staff member leaves the University community. Wrong addressed mail and directory services are also provided. This system coordinates daily with the U.S. Postal Service in Greenville, N.C.

Necessary Form

Each student faculty, or staff member who leaves the University is required to fill out a Change Of Address card, DS Form 3575, and submit it to the Mail Services for forwarding purposes. These forms are maintained and updated for a period of one year.

Faculty Mail

Faculty members' mail should be forwarded by the departmental secretary to the University Mail Service. Post Office personnel will forward their mail to the latest address they have on file.
