Policy Statement 1: Payrolls Processed

General

The University Payroll Department processes payrolls based on the following classifications:

• Semi-Monthly

• Students

• Summer School

• Summer Camps

Semi-monthly Payroll

All EPA (Exempt from the State Personnel Act), SPA (Subject to the State Personnel Act), temporary employees, graduate assistants, and students are paid on the semi-monthly payroll.

Students

Students are classified as follows:

• Self-Help without FICA (earnings code 240)

• Self-Help with FICA (earnings code 242)

• Work-Study Fall/Spring without FICA (earnings code 235)

• Work-Study Summer without FICA (earnings code 236)

• Work-Study Fall/Spring with FICA (earnings code 237)

• Work-Study Summer with FICA (earnings code 238)

• Flat Rate without FICA (earnings code 245)

• Flat Rate with FICA (earnings code 246)

FICA must be withheld if student is enrolled less than 6 hours in Fall/Spring semesters or less than 2 hours in Summer school.

First Semi-monthly

The following is a list of the types of payments processed on the first Semi-monthly Payroll:

• Overtime

• Shift Premium

• Longevity

• Dual Employment (internal and external)

• Out-of-Class Pay

• Employees not receiving salary payments for the previous pay period

• Holiday Pay

Summer School

All summer school faculty and graduate assistants that teach during the summer sessions are paid on the payroll in which each Summer Session ends. Summer School pay is included with the employee's regular salary.

Summer Camps

All employees working with camps during the summer are paid semi-monthly by the Payroll Department. Listed below are the different camps involved:

• Math/Science

• Music

• Summer Theatre

• Legislator's School

• Athletics (basketball, football, baseball, and cheerleading)
