- Be aware of your surroundings at all times, day or night.
- Keep your room and suite door locked at all times, especially when you are sleeping or just being away from your room for a couple of minutes.
- Carry your keys at all times.
- Carry your ID and room keys separately, do not put on key ring together.
- Always keep your ECU One Card with you while on campus.
- Report missing keys immediately.
- Never loan your keys to anyone for any reason.
- Avoid telephone scams, by not giving out personal information.
- Keep your computer, ATM, passwords, etc. confidential.
- Keep you personal information, cards, IDs or cash in a secure place.
- Walk in pairs while on campus or in the community.
- Lock your car at all times.
- Avoid credit card fraud by keeping receipts or destroying them properly. Do not give out information over the telephone or on unsecured Internet sites.
- Avoid ID fraud by protecting your personal information and social security number.
- Wear your seat belt at all times while operating or riding in a motor vehicle.
- Be aware of your surroundings while exiting any business or building.
- Try to do laundry during the daytime hours.
- Use the bank ATM during daytime hours.
- Know who is visiting your room, hall or suite.
- Do not allow anyone you do not know to tailgate or follow you into your residence hall.
- Do not allow anyone without a key or anyone you do not know to enter your residence hall.
- Do not leave your room window open or unlocked when you are not in your room.
- Do not remove window screens, except for situations of imminent danger.
- Engrave your personal items.
- Firearms, fireworks, explosives, knives, bow and arrows or martial arts equipment are not allowed in residence halls.
- Weight-lifting equipment and waterbeds are not allowed in student rooms.
- At night, walk in well-lit areas with a companion.
- Attend hall meetings and follow the policies outlined by Campus Living.
