Zero
Tolerance
East Carolina University is concerned about the welfare and safety of our students. Nationally, drug use is on the rise on college campuses. When illicit drugs are introduced into the community, other criminal behavior tends to increase. To inhibit the increase of crime in the residence halls, ECU Campus Living has adopted a Zero Tolerance policy.

  1. Any student found responsible in accordance with University procedures for use, possession, distribution, sale, or manufacture of an illegal drug, or possession of a device used to ingest, distribute, sell, or manufacture, such a drug, will have their residence hall contract cancelled.
  2. Students whose contracts are cancelled for such a violation, will be required to move out of his/her residence hall room and forfeit all keys within twenty-four hours of being notified of the outcome of his/her final appeal.
  3. Campus Living reserves the right to temporarily relocate any student accused of any violations specified above to another residence hall during the student disciplinary process and that any such student may be banned from other residence halls when relocated.
  4. Students are to report any suspected violations of the Code of Conduct, including those specified herein, to the Residence Hall Coordinator, Resident Advisor, or the ECU Police Department.
