RezNet

RezNet is the high speed Internet service that is provided in your residence hall room.  It is a “wired” connection.  ECU offers wireless connections in the public areas (lobby, some laundry areas) of most residence halls, but in your room you will be using a Ethernet cable and port.  Bringing or using your own wireless access point is prohibited for security reasons.

When you arrive on campus there will be more computer information on how to connect to ECU’s RezNet system waiting in your residence hall room. One your first access to the network, you will be asked to download Cisco Clean Access Agent (CCA) and Symantec Anti-Virus.  You must download and properly install both of these programs to have full access to the network.

CCA is a security program that checks a computer for Windows Updates and Current Anti-Virus.  To use the RezNet system with Windows you will be required to use the student copy of Symantec Anti-Virus and CCA (Cisco Clean Access).  If you have a different copy of Symantec Anti-Virus or Symantec System-Works you will have to remove these before installing the ECU student version.  We require the ECU student version because it does not require an annual subscription, and therefore will remain updated for virus definitions.

Campus Living provides technical support via “house calls” from our Resident Computer Consultants (RCC).  Students can get assistance over the phone or request technical support from a RCC by calling the ITCS Helpdesk at 328-9866.  Students can also use the services of the ACE Computing Center in RawlHall.  The hours, location and contact information for ACE can be found at http://www.ecu.edu/ace/.
