Dr. Angela Lamson
Program Director

Education: PhD, Iowa State University

Research Interests: Medical Family Therapy, integrated care, childhood obesity, military marital health, and compassion fatigue among providers

Dr. Lamson has published over 50 articles related to medical family therapy, loss, and trauma and has secured 1.1 million dollars in grants.
   
Dr. Andrew S. Brimhall

Education: Ph.D. Texas Tech University

Research Interests:
Understanding how families navigate relational transitions. These include: Divorce and Remarriage; Parent-child interactions; Attachment-based Couple and Family Interactions; Filial Play Therapy; Sexual Addictions and other Compulsive Behaviors; Trauma; and Qualitative Methodology


   
Dr. Katharine Wickel Didericksen

Education:

Ph.D. University of Minnesota
M.S. Purdue University Calumet
B.S. Brigham Young University

Research Interests:
Adolescent/child obesity, Eating disorders, Family eating practices, Family meals, Food insecurity, Health disparities, Women’s health, Medical Family Therapy, Collaborative healthcare, Research ethics, Couples considering divorce
   

Dr. David Dosser, Jr.

Came to ECU in 1989

Education: PhD, University of Georgia

Serves as the ECU Faculty Athletic Representative

Over 25 years of experience as a MFT

Research Interests: Family preservation, the process of becoming a therapist, emotionally focused therapy, and mental-health of student athletes
   

Dr. Jennifer Hodgson

Education: PhD, Iowa State University

Research Interests: Marriage and family therapy/medical family therapy supervision and training, models of integrated care, evidence-based research, Parkinson’s disease and the family, and cross-cultural training and collaboration between family therapists and medical professionals

Has over 50 published research articles, book chapters and magazine articles

Garnered  over 1 million in external funding
   

Dr. Jakob F. Jensen

Education:

MS, Auburn University
PhD, Auburn University 

Research Interests:
Romantic relationship quality, Couples' social networks, Disclosure of romantic challenges, and Older adults' marital conflict

   

Dr. Damon Rappleyea

Came to ECU in 2008

Education: PhD, Texas Tech University

Research Interests: Adolescent and couples violence, marriage and relationship education, cross-cultural marriages, and MFT professional development
   

Dr. Lisa Tyndall
ECU Family Therapy  Clinic Director

Dr. Tyndall is a 2010 MedFT Graduate and an invaluable asset to the functioning of the ECU Family Therapy Clinic while also continuing to publish research in Medical Family Therapy.
