Child Development and Family Relations: Resources

The resources of Child Development and Family Relations benefit the faculty, students, and Greenville community. Each serves in an instructional role for faculty and students, and as a service to our community. We thank our local community for utilizing the Child Development Lab and Family Therapy Clinic, which allows our student real life experience on campus.

Child Development Laboratory
The Child Development Laboratory supports faculty and student research and serves as a model demonstration program for the Eastern North Carolina region. ECU's program is one of the few infant-toddler model programs in North Carolina. The Child Development Laboratory is accredited by the Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and holds a five-star childcare center license rating from the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, Division of Child Development.

Family Therapy Clinic
The Family Therapy Clinic, located at 612 East Tenth Street, is adjacent to the East Carolina campus. The clinic is operated year round by the MFT program as a training facility for students. It provides therapy rooms equipped with one-way mirrors and videotaping capability to facility observation and supervision. The clinic has space for students to review session tapes, complete casework and paperwork, and relax and study.

Teacher Education Resource Room
The Teacher Education Resource room supports faculty, teacher education students and graduates from our BK and FACS programs. The materials are provided to serve as supplemental aids, and can be used in the room and/or taken out for a two-hour period. All materials must be signed out with name and contact number. Materials available are books, DVDs, games, an empathy belly, Ready 4 Life Family and Consumer Sciences program, home interior/architect materials, and much more. The Teacher Education Resource Room is located in Rivers 174 and is open M-F 8:00- 5:00.
