Hello, I am Judy Siguaw, Dean of the College of Human Ecology. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the College of Human Ecology during the 100 year celebration of the founding of East Carolina University. The College of Human Ecology is comprised of 6 distinct disciplines that focus on serving people and communities: Child Development and Family Relations, Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, Interior Design and Merchandising, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Social Work. Through these disciplines we are able to offer over 20 different academic programs that include undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. Our student experiences include: opportunities to work with industry professionals in internship settings, participating in student organizations, study abroad, and community outreach programs, just to name a few. We take pride in providing an exciting and enriching educational opportunity while at the same time preparing our students for the “real world” work environment. This is evident in the successes of our Alumni, many of whom act as industry leaders, community pillars, and entrepreneurs. If you have a longing to change the world for the better and to serve mankind, I believe you will find the right major within our College. I invite you to take the time to explore our website and discover what the College of Human Ecology has to offer.
