Dr. Bonner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, College of Human Ecology, at East Carolina University. She is a graduate of the University at Albany, SUNY and also holds M.S., M.A. and B.A. degrees in Criminal Justice. Her research focuses on the administration of the criminal justice process, with a particular emphasis on police decision making and the effects of policies and programs on police operations. Prior to joining the ECU faculty, Dr. Bonner was an analyst at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services where she evaluated the effects of the 2009 Rockefeller Drug Law Reform. She has served as a Senior Analyst at the John F. Finn Institute for Public Safety (Albany, NY) and presently works with them as an Affiliated Researcher. She was also recently appointed to a 2-year term on the Board of Trustees for the Finn Institute. Dr. Bonner also serves as the Research Partner for the Greenville Police Department, and is engaged in additional research projects with other area law enforcement agencies.
