Liz Morgan ’12, social work, recently landed her first job as a case management coordinator for Martin General Hospital in Williamston, N.C., where she assumes multiple roles. Liz is mainly responsible for seeing new patients and performing initial case assessments. She describes her job as very rewarding, specifically, working with a variety of patients, and ensuring proper treatment.

Liz says being a social worker offers her a unique perspective in terms of patient care. “Social workers tend to see a side of people and situations that many others overlook. In a busy setting such as a hospital, keeping a ‘social work’ perspective helps me remain grounded in my work and helps me effectively deliver what is needed by patients,” she says. Liz credits the Field Education Office in the School of Social Work for her career success. “I encourage all social work students to take their internship seriously and learn as much as they can. The internship program is one of the bonuses of being a part of the ECU School of Social Work,” she says.
