Welcome to the Department of Interior Design and Merchandising (IDMR) website. Our department consists of two distinct disciplines: Interior Design and Merchandising. Within these two disciplines we offer undergraduate degrees in Interior Design, Apparel in Merchandising, Merchandising Interiors, and a minor in Merchandising. Our students’ experience working with industry professionals, community development projects, student organization activities, just to name a few. Our students and department have received numerous academic and professional awards (link to awards). Our facilities contain a number of physical resources to enhance our students learning experiences. These resources include three design labs, a textile lab, resource room, and CAD computer lab.
Dependent upon your chosen degree program students may be required or strongly encouraged to participate in professional internships. These internships vary as much as the two distinct disciplines. Students have participated in internships with furniture design firms, architectural firms, local merchants, and large retailers. We continue to garner relationships with professionals from companies such as Crate and Barrel, J Crew, Reebok, etc. These relationships have lead to internships, guest speakers from industry, and future careers for former students.
