National Kitchen and Bath Association Gives ECU Program Top Ranking

Top Ranking Prize

The interior design program has received the top ranking of the 37 endorsed college programs and the 16 supported interior design programs evaluated by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) in the of fall 2006. Congratulations to Yaprak Savut, faculty member, and Brittany Gardner, students, for the exceptional bath design judged by the NKBA and for bringing home this trophy.

Las Vegas, NV. – The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) announced at the Educators Event during the 2007 K/BIS® the top five submissions from the yearly collection of student work samples

Each year the NKBA Endorsed Programs Department collects two student work submissions from each NKBA Endorsed Program.  In even years, kitchen work samples are collected and during odd years, bath work samples are collected. Student work samples include a floor plan, elevation, construction plan, and mechanical plan based on this year’s NKBA Student Design Competition sponsored by American Woodmark Corporation and Sub Zero Freezer Company.  The work samples are scored by a professional noting compliance of the NKBA Planning Guidelines and the adherence to NKBA Graphic and Presentation Standards.

In 2006, the association for the first time recognized the programs with a “Most Outstanding Annual Requirements” trophy to symbolize their timely submission and excellence.  The recipients for the kitchen project submissions awarded at K/BIS 2006-Chicago were: Alexandria Tech, Coordinator Betty Ravnik, CKD,CBD, Alexandria, MN; Harper College, Coordinator Jacque Mott, Palatine, IL; Johnson Community College, Coordinator Jan Cummings, Overland, Park, KS; and Seminole Community College, Coordinator Jill Smith, Sanford, FL.

This year the NKBA Endorsed Programs Department is pleased to recognize the first ever “Most Outstanding Annual Requirements” for bath projects. The winners were: Alexandria Tech, Coordinator Betty Ravnik, CKD, CBD, Alexandria, MN; Century College, Coordinator Arlynne W. Wolf, CKE, Minneapolis, MN; East Carolina University, Coordinator Yaprak Savut, CKE, Greenville, NC; Lord Fairfax Community College, Coordinator Candace Morris, Middletown, VA; Murray State University, Coordinator Cynthia Tubbs, Murray, KY.
