Interior Design & Merchandising
       Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Fashion Concentration

Fashion Merchandising covers most aspects of the fashion industry, from the fashion designer to, manufacturers, distributors, marketers, and end the retailers. Students in our program have a vast range of experiences including study abroad, trips to companies and apparel markets, creating visual displays for local retailers, and interacting with industry professionals. Alumni of our program have worked with such notable companies as: Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, H&M, Burberry, Lilly Pulitzer, Gap, JCrew, Kate Spade, Valentino NY, Crate and Barrel, Ann Taylor, and Vogue.

Requirements to Declare:
You should declare that you want to major in merchandising with Fashion Concentration after you have completed your freshman year and meet the following criteria:
  • Students must have a cumulative 2.5 grade point average
  • complete a minimum of 12 semester hours at ECU including MRCH 2350 and MATH 1065.

Please contact your academic advisor to officially declare your major.

 

Other Requirements:
  • The bachelor’s degree in merchandising requires a minor among the follow four choices: business administration, communication, hospitality management, and art. It is recommended student checks with the chosen minor program for minor completion requirements and course sequence.
  • Internships are required for undergraduate catalogs starting 2010-2011.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA 2.5 for enrolling in senior Merchandising Internship class and for graduation with B.S. in Merchandising.
  • Throughout the program, students must make a "C" (2.0) or better in all MRCH/IDSN major courses and MATH 1065.
