The Lucille W. Gorham Intergenerational Community Center, was created through a partnership between East Carolina University, the City of Greenville, Pitt Community College, and multiple community partners. The Center is committed to promoting independence and self-sufficiency among residents of west Greenville and Pitt County by enriching living and social conditions, increasing economic development, community involvement, improving and advocating educational opportunities, stimulating health awareness, and providing outreach networks. Community members benefit from these services regardless of age, race, creed, religion, economic status, or educational level. The IGCC brings all members of the community together to identify and solve community issues with multiple community programs. As of July 2010, the IGCC has served 16,000 visitors. |
