Dr. Hamid Kusha
Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice
An Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Dr. Kusha teaches courses in Policing and Administration of Justice, and Terrorism and Criminal Justice. His classes are both engaging and entertaining due to his vast knowledge of the subject matter he is teaching. This knowledge not only comes from his extensive research interest but his personal background as well. Originally from Iran, Dr. Kusha has focused his research in areas such as International Terrorism and Homeland Security; Islamic Legal Tradition; Iranian Legal Justice and Traditions; Comparative Law and Society. He also teaches and applies his expertise in the Graduate Certificate in Security Studies program.
Dr. Kusha has won various scholarly awards including Outstanding 2004 Employee Service Award and Scholar of the Year, and Scholar of the Year in 2003-2004, both from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts from University of Abadan in Iran, and his Master’s and Ph.D. from University of Kentucky. A devoted husband and father, Dr Kusha enjoys composing paintings using pastels in his spare time. His works are occasionally on display in various locations throughout the college.
