 Criminal Justice

Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice (CJ) website. Criminal Justice is the study of law enforcement agencies, court systems, corrections, and juvenile justice and how they affect society. Our department currently offers an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, and two minors; one in the generalist elements of Criminal Justice and the other in Forensic Science. Students in our programs explore all the elements of Criminal Justice, focusing on keeping society safe both domestically and internationally.

A degree in Criminal Justice prepares a student to work immediately in a justice agency on either the local, state or federal level. These may include: local, state, and federal law enforcement (i.e. DEA, FBI, Sheriff Department, U.S. Marshall, Crime Scene Laboratory, Corrections, Probation & Parole, Victim Advocacy and others). Our programs also prepare students who wish to pursue a graduate and/or law degree. Many of our graduates have gone on to work as police officers, in government agencies (such as the DEA, FBI, etc.), and as attorneys, just to name a few.

For additional information please feel free to contact us at JUST@ecu.edu or 252-328-4192.
