Sylvia Escott-Stump, MA, RD, LDN
Director for Dietetic Internship, Nutrition and Dietetics
As Director of Dietetics Internship Program, Mrs. Sylvia Escott-Stump works directly in placing students in professional settings and preparing them to sit for the National Registration Examination for Dietitians. Along with overseeing interns she teaches classes related to preparing individuals for experiences and circumstances they may encounter in the work place. These classes include: Orientation to Supervised Practice, Clinical Practicum, Community Practicum, Food Systems Management Practicum, and Staff Relief and Leadership.
Mrs. Escott- Stump received her undergraduate degree in Nutrition Education and her Master’s in Adult-Community Education both from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Originally form Wellsboro, Pennsylvania (home of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon), Mrs. Escott-Stump is recognized internationally for her expertise in medical nutrition therapy. Her textbook on this topic has been translated into Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese. She has won numerous professional and academic awards, most recently being named North Carolina Dietetic Association Member of the Year 2009. Her accolades come from her high expectations of herself as reflected in one of her favorite quotes by Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”
