Research and Personal Interests:
Dr. Heidal has two clear and distinct research streams: 1) omega-3 fatty acids and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases (i.e. heart disease, obesity, cancer, and diabetes) and 2) obesity and community based interventions designed to increase healthy eating and to reinforce positive lifestyle behaviors that include.  Through her leadership and collaborations with the USDA NC-1039, Dr. Heidal continues to examine the relationships between dietary n-3, fish oil supplements and blood profiles over time in healthy, at risk and chronically ill subjects.
