 Master of Science in Nutrition
   

The Master of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics provides advanced academic training for individuals seeking in-depth nutrition knowledge and for Registered Dietitians who are interested in career advancement. Our program provides students with two options for completing their Master’s degree:  thesis or non-thesis. The thesis option emphasizes research, while the non thesis option emphasizes professional development and requires a research project in place of a thesis.

The Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics is mostly offered on-line, but some on-campus activities may be required. Please note that some courses are generally only offered in an on-line format.

 

 
Requirements for Admission:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from American Dietetic Association-accredited program.
  • A minimum score on GRE of 850 on combined total of verbal and quantitative completed in past 5 years.
  • Minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
  • Minimum grade of C in College Algebra, completed in past 5 years.
  • Equivalent to Nutrition Foundation Requirement from ECU (if your undergraduate degree is in something other than nutrition). If you are not sure of these requirements click here.
The deadline for applications is December 15. Admission to the Master of Science in Nutrition program is through the ECU Graduate School.
   
 
Other Requirements:
 
  • The Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics requires a minimum of 33 semester hours, 17 semester hours must be 6000-level and 15 semester hours must be NUTR courses. You are required to successfully complete all core courses and the appropriate research/professional practice courses for the thesis or non-thesis option.
  • Students enrolled in the program have 6 years to complete all degree requirements.
