Student Dietetic Association |
The Student Dietetic Association (SDA) is a volunteer student organization primarily intended for nutrition students but open to any major. The SDA meets regularly and provides its members with guest speakers who can help with various academic and professional development issues such as time management, academic tutoring, and preparation for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam). SDA also helps students prepare for the dietetic internship application process as well as networking with nutrition professionals within the community. The meetings also allow for the members to meet other nutrition majors and get involved in nutrition outreach activities. The SDA is involved in many campus activities such as Get-A-Clue, Barefoot on the Mall, Haunted Health, and National Nutrition Month. Community activities are encouraged as well such as health fairs, Meal Exchange Program, and Cross Works events. The SDA holds an annual Recognition Ceremony during the spring semester to acknowledge its members’ service. The SDA also encourages students to get involved in their professional organiztions by supporting attendance at the annual NC Dietetic Association meeting. Here members can network with dietitians throughout North Carolina as well as hear presentations on up-to-date nutrition topics. |
