 Student Organizations within the College of Human Ecology
   

The Student Organizations within the College of Human Ecology provides you with the opportunity to get involved in organizations that will help prepare you for the future.  Each organization will provide you with the chance to work as a team, develop new skills, work with the community, and make new friends.  We offer many student organizations that make it possible for you to get the most out of your CHE student experience.  Please select the academic unit below that you are associated with, to see which student organizations may interest you.

  Kappa Omicron Nu
 
  Kappa Omicron Nu is a national honor society.  The East Carolina University chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu is Nu Iota.  “The mission of Kappa Omicron Nu is empowered leaders through scholarship, research, and leadership. This mission will enable the organization and chapters to prepare scholars and researchers for the 21st century.” ( http://www.kon.org/ ) Prospective members are issued an invitation in the Fall.  The induction ceremony is held once a year, on the first Monday of November.  Undergraduate and graduate students in one of the six units in the College of Human Ecology who meet the eligibility requirements are invited to join.  For undergraduates, criteria include:  undergrads must have declared a major in one of the six units in our college, have completed 45 semester hours, and rank in the top 25% of their class in the unit.   For Graduate students, criteria include:  enrollment in a graduate program in the college, have completed 12 semester hours of graduate work, and have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
   
 

Dean's Student Council
The purpose of the Dean’s Student Council is to allow the Dean to better hear the voice of students in the College of Human Ecology, to identify issues of the greatest importance to our students, and to work cooperatively with students to find resolutions that are satisfactory. The Student Council meets once per month.
