New Site Configuration
New Site Configuration establishes site location and address, data configuration, and the administrator password for this CommonSpot site.
New Site Configuration contains the following fields:
- Root Directory - Required. Identifies the directory for the new site index file. You must enter a path to the Web server root and a unique directory name. The directory can be a shared network drive, if necessary. In the example above, the Web root directory is C:/web, the directory /cs60 designates CommonSpot sites, and /fundforhait identifies a unique directory for the new site.
- Web Server Mapping - Optional. Determines whether this is a "virtual root" site. When checked, the new site is served at the root URL and site visitors see the new site as http://www.mycompany.com/ When unchecked, sets the URL for this site to the directory specified in the Root Directory field. In the example above, site visitors will see the new site as http://www.mycompany.com/issues2/ .
- Site IP Address - The Site Administrator uses the site IP Address to build avigation and to formulate fully qualified URLs for certain CommonSpot Elements. Specify the fully qualified IP address or alias for this Web server. This URL should resolve to the physical location of the server used for CommonSpot. When logged into the Web server, entering the contents of this field in a browser displays the CommonSpot site. The example above references a private network.
- Data Source - Required. By default CommonSpot constructs the data source name by prepending 'commonspot-site' to the name assigned to the site in the New Site Name dialog. You can optionally choose an alternative to the default.
- Database Type - Required. Displays the default type defined for new sites. Accept or reset to SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Administrator Password - The administrator password for the new site. Note that CommonSpot automatically sets the user name to the mnemonic admin-{newsitename}. Enter a unique alphanumeric password.
- Confirm Password - Matches the administrator password for the new site. Retype the new site password.
Click Prev to return the New Site Name dialog, Next to display the New Site Database Information dialog, or Cancel to exit without saving new site information.
