Students who were previously enrolled at ECU, discontinued their enrollment for any reason and any length of time, and wish to return must apply for readmission.

All Readmit Students must:

  • Apply online via The College Foundation of North Carolina
  • Pay the $60 nonrefundable application fee
  • Submit ALL official (in a signed/sealed envelope) transcripts from any college/university attended since their last enrollment at ECU. The transcript(s) must indicate that a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher has been earned. Serving the minimum suspension time away from ECU does not guarantee admission. Transfer credits will be evaluated according to university policy.

Note: Students with departmental "hold tags" on their records (i.e. Cashier, Parking, Judicial, etc.) cannot be readmitted until the tags have been removed.

Students who have less than a 2.0 grade point average at ECU, or who are academically ineligible to return to ECU, must complete their suspension time away from the University before applying for readmission.

Students that left ECU for one or more semesters with less than a 2.0 GPA must either:

  • Complete 30 semester hours of transferable work at another institution with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
  • Earn 12 semester hours during Summer I & II with a minimum GPA of 2.5
    OR
Be within 5 quality points of your retention GPA (Please contact an Academic Advisor)

Readmission to the University does not guarantee readmission to individual academic programs. Please contact the Admissions Office with any questions at 252-328-6640.

Forgiveness Policy:

If you have been out of school for a minimum of three consecutive academic years (summer sessions excluded), you may request readmission under the Forgiveness Policy on the CFNC online application for admissions.

Under the Forgiveness Policy, grades of D and F will no longer be calculated into the GPA, although they will be listed on your transcript.

Students readmitted under this policy will be held to the following stipulations:

  • You will be on academic probation for the first 19 semester hours of attempted course work
  • At the end of the term in which the 19th semester hour is attempted, you must have earned a minimum C average at ECU on courses taken since readmission
  • If you fail to meet the above stipulations, you will be ineligible to continue, except for summer school, until such time as the C average is obtained
  • A student may be readmitted under the forgiveness policy only one time
  • No transfer credit will be awarded for courses taken at any institution of higher education during the initial three consecutive academic years.

ATTENTION:  Due to capacity enrollment in the Fall 2009 Term, available space in the upcoming Spring 2010 Semester is very limited.  Admission to ECU for the Spring 2010 term will continue to be more selective and competitive than in previous years.

Remaining space for the Spring 2010 term will be awarded to the most academically qualified applicants on first-come, first-served basis.   It is anticipated that remaining spaces available in the Spring 2010 term will be exhausted prior to the application deadline of November 1, 2009.   Therefore, prospective students who are interested in the Spring 2010 term are encouraged to apply for the Summer 2010 term.
