This is one of the most exciting times of your life, filled with opportunity and expectation—and yes, lots of questions. Now that you're a Pirate, the biggest question you might be asking is this: "OK, NOW WHAT?"
This guide will answer that, along with many of the other questions that no doubt are running through your mind. You'll learn about important events coming up in the next several months. You'll learn about academic life, where you can live, where you can eat, and what you can do for fun. You'll also learn about the opportunities to make the most out of your college career.
As you get ready for that big transition from high school to college—with all the excitement that goes with it—we want you to remember one very important thing: we are here to help you.
Now that you have been admitted, there are several important steps for enrollment that must be completed. It is very important that you verify your intention to enroll by paying your enrollment deposit, complete your housing contract (if applicable), and register for new student orientation.
Student Success. Public Service. Innovative Discovery. Global Impact. Here, those values are more than just buzzwords. They indicate the wealth of opportunity that ECU students experience while engaging in the rigorous pursuit of knowledge. They define the many ways in which students innovate and forge new paths. They encompass the life lessons our students learn while serving others and improving communities. They emphasize the encouragement our students receive to stand up and lead the way into a brighter tomorrow.
East Carolina University prides itself on academic excellence across disciplines. Read more about U.S. News & World Report ranking ECU in the top tier of national universities in its 2018 "Best Colleges" guide.
East Carolina's motto is Servire, a Latin term meaning To Serve. ECU's Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement helps match students with service opportunities, like the alternative spring break experiences highlighted in this story.
Find the answer. Find a cure. Find yourself. At East Carolina, students and faculty are inspired to discover, innovate, and transform. Read about ECU researchers who performed an archaeological investigation of a downed WWII aircraft.
The university's impact is worldwide—from internationally renowned research by our faculty to study abroad experiences that help prepare students for success in the global economy in which they'll work. Read about the experiences of some of our Pirates Abroad students.
As a college student, you'll be pushed like never before. You'll study like never before. You'll experience new things like never before. It won't be easy, but the payoff will be worth the challenge.
