Responsibilities
The Committee will report directly to the Chancellor. Its functions will be as follows:
- Serve as policy advisor on the status of women on campus
- Recommend to the Chancellor, Provost and other university leaders
- Educational, professional development, and extracurricular programs designed to increase awareness of women's issues across campus
- Initiatives to make the university more supportive of and welcoming to women
- Initiatives to address gender issues
- Specific and annual funding strategies to achieve CCSW objectives
- Promote equity in recruiting, hiring, retaining, and promoting women faculty and staff by examining institutional policies at ECU
- Recommend and encourage research to assess and benchmark the status of women
- Provide information and programs on issues and activities of interest to women and the university community at large
- Work to create an environment where women's issues can be discussed openly
