May 2017 Commencement Information

Welcome to the East Carolina University Commencement site. We hope this site provides Graduates with all the information you might need to apply for Commencement, RSVP for the Main Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 5th at 9:00a.m. in Dowdy Ficklen Stadium and obtain other information related to Commencement Weekend.  

There is also helpful information for Faculty and staff about RSVPing and where to be on the day of Commencement festivities. There is a specific section for Family and friends that we hope will answer your questions. In the event you still have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call or email us. Important Notes: On Friday, May 5th, Graduates should report to their School/College lineup area located in the concourse areas of the Stadium by 8:15a.m.  Gates to Dowdy Ficklen Stadium will open at 8:00am for family members and guests.

May 2017 School/College Recognition Ceremonies

After East Carolina University’s Commencement Ceremony at Minges Coliseum some schools/colleges will hold recognition ceremonies for their graduates on Friday, May 5th or Saturday, May 6th.  Check out the School/College Recognition page for updated information for the time and location of those ceremonies.  


President Spellings
May 2017 Commencement Guest Speaker

Nationally known as an education thought leader and public policy expert, Spellings most recently served as President of the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas, where she planned, managed, and implemented programs on economic growth, education reform, global health, and special initiatives focused on women and military service.

Spellings previously served as President and CEO of Margaret Spellings & Company and as President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, where she directed an aggressive competitiveness and workforce-readiness agenda and offered strategic guidance to a number of philanthropic and private sector organizations..
