The ECU/PCS AIG camp is an annual summer camp for Pitt County AIG students. This camp began in 2005 and has grown each year. We will host 120 gifted students this summer. Along with Pitt County Schools master teachers, ECU faculty and students will offer a week of rigorous enrichment for your student.
This year, PCS students who are identified as gifted and are currently in grades 4 through 8 are invited to apply to the ECU/PCS AIG summer camp during the week of July 16-19 from 7:45 am–noon Monday-Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:45am-5:00pm. The fee is $125 per child and a few need-based scholarships are available this summer. Families are also invited to sponsor a child who has a demonstrated financial need.
This summer’s curriculum theme is SYSTEMS. Whether the students are learning about underwater treasures, the body’s mechanical systems, or insects and animals they will be investigating the relationship of systems to our world.
Following an opening morning session, students will participate in systems-themed stations. Students will be able to select topics that match their interests and all topics will include hands-on activities and interactive use of technology. Snacks will be served daily.
This year we have implemented a few changes. The application process is all on-line and there will no longer be a lottery for camp slots. We will accept the first 120 students who complete the application process. Registration will open on March 1st and will close when all slots are full or on April 15th. Note that the $125 registration fee will be due at registration and is non-refundable.
Please submit all forms, session selections, and payment by April 15, 2012. If paying by check, please make it payable to East Carolina University. This fee is non-refundable. Once all steps of the registration process has been completed, your child's acceptance will be confirmed.
