Lifelong Learning Program


To inspire, engage, and serve the lifelong learning interests of individuals 50 and older in eastern North Carolina.

 

 

This outreach initiative is for adults 50 and older who want to continue learning in a relaxed atmosphere, without entrance requirements, exams, or grades. Your desire to learn for the joy of learning and personal fulfillment is the underlying feature of this program. It is easy to join and is affordable.

 

You are invited to be a member and enjoy these exciting opportunities for getting involved:

 

Receive an LLP membership card


Receive the LLP's listing of classes and events


Take part in the LLP educational programs and activities


Teach and lead classes, if qualified


Meet and network with other members


Receive an ECU parking pass for scheduled classes on campus


Serve on the Advisory Council and its committees


Participate in decision-making


Use the services of the ECU Joyner Library, bookstore, and cafes


Receive discounts for certain university social and cultural events


Enjoy opportunities to volunteer at the LLP program, on campus, and in the community


Serve as ambassador for LLP

 

A wide array of class topics await you! Examples include health issues, North Carolina history, world affairs, music, writing, photography, art, travel, cultural issues, environment, great literature, book discussions, gardening, and other areas of interest to members.

 

Membership fee: $35 (June 1, 2011 - August 31, 2012)

Program Kickoff Event

 

You are invited to the kickoff event for the new ECU Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) for boomers and beyond!

 

The event will feature Dr. Elliot Engel, a scholar, performer, and story teller whose infectious enthusiasm and radiant wit create an imaginative and delightful presentation. He will focus on "A Light History of the English Language."

 

in addition to the lecture, you will have an opportunity to explore the exciting program offerings beginning this summer and swinging into high gear in fall 2011.

 

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Bring your friends and sign up for membership and classes.
