Participation in the PhD Program in Coastal Resources Management (CRM) requires commitment, motivation, and excellent academic preparation. Completion of the program typically requires between four and six years, two of which must be spent in residence at East Carolina University. Students must have the strong motivation to work independently as well as collaboratively with fellow students and faculty. The challenge of addressing three areas of study requires a solid academic foundation, typically based in the arts and sciences and enriched through personal experience. Applicants must meet all requirements for admission to the Graduate School of East Carolina University.
Applicants are expected to have previously obtained a bachelor’s degree with a grade point average of at least 3.0 and to have scored at least 1800 total points on the verbal, quantitative, and writing portions of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or successfully completed a masters or equivalent professional degree. A TOEFL score of 600 is expected of non-English speaking international students.
