My research with the Coastal Resource Management program involves the analysis of international management of the spiny dogfish fishery by integrating knowledge on species biology, life history characteristics, commercial trade and exploitation, and management regulations adopted in several coastal areas. My research combines information from fishery dependent survey and social science techniques such as social network analysis of commercial trade data, with the objectives of fostering species conservation while maintaining sustainable exploitation. I am an active member of the ECU subunit of the American Fisheries Society, where I served as Historian for two years, and the ECU chapter of The Coastal Society. When I am not working on my beloved sharks, I enjoy playing the guitar, listening to music, surfing, SCUBA diving and if not near the ocean, kicking a ball on the soccer field.
