I joined the Coastal Resources Management program to integrate a multi-sectorial approach to the role of science and policy in the management of coastal resources. Prior to returning for a PhD I worked five years for the City of Raleigh managing lakes to include fisheries, facilities, programs, and human resources. I returned to gain an education with an emphasis on estuarine and coastal ecology to develop a critical analysis of fish ecology, fisheries, and fisheries management. My current research topic is "Using Otolith and Water Chemistry to Determine Philopatry and Vagrancy of Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) in the Albemarle Sound/Roanoke River Stock." In my free time I enjoy saltwater and freshwater fishing, kayaking local streams and rivers, and recreational diving.
