Why did you choose to attend East Carolina University?
I enrolled at ECU because it would help me achieve my long term goals.
What has your scholarship enabled you to do?
The scholarship has given me the freedom to explore different majors that I would not have considered before. I am more active in campus activities and the student organization.
What special undergraduate research opportunities have you experienced at the university?
I work under Dr. Brett Keiper at the Biochemistry Department in the Brody School of Medicine. It is a unique and valuable opportunity to be able to work with someone of his caliber. Although I am just in the beginning stages of research, I gain knowledge and experience each day.
What unique leadership opportunities have you experienced at the university?
Through the EC scholars program, my fellow scholars and I met Steve Farber. He spoke about Extreme Leadership and how to exceed our own expectations.
What are your career plans/aspirations?
I want to either pursue a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or enter Medical School after undergraduate studies.
How have you made a positive impact while you have been at East Carolina University?
I am the activities coordinator of the Rising Leaders Circle at ECU. The Rising Leaders Circle has hosted multiple wellness passport events and volunteer activities.
