Why did you choose to attend East Carolina University?
I decided to come to ECU because of the wonderful opportunities the school has to offer me. I am also from Greenville, and I love this town. Receiving the scholarship was crucial in helping me decide on ECU.
What has your scholarship enabled you to do?
My scholarship has enabled me to experience particular events or activities that I would have otherwise not been able to partake in.
What special undergraduate research opportunities have you experienced at the university?
I am currently working on an Epigenetic/Obesity/Diabetes project at the Brody School of Medicine with Dr. Murashov. This experience has definitely been an amazing one; being able to work in a lab setting with a large experiment. This has also increased my experience with basic lab techniques and has allowed me to help other people with the knowledge that we have garnered.
What unique leadership opportunities have you experienced at the university?
While at East Carolina University, I have been given the opportunity to be part of the Honors Ambassadors, the Tennis Club, and the HOSA Club. All of these groups have given me special skills, enabling me to not only lead, but to also follow.
What are your career plans/aspirations?
After graduating from ECU, I plan to go to medical school and become a medical doctor for the Greenville community, which has fostered my growth and passion for medicine.
How have you made a positive impact while you have been at East Carolina University?
While at ECU, I have been able to work towards serving my community, spending time every Friday at the Golden Living community center, the Sheppard Memorial Library every Saturday, and Vidant Health Medical Center every Sunday. It has been wonderful being able to give back to the community that has given me so much.
