Many factors played a role in my decision to come to East Carolina. The staff members are amazing and truly dedicated to helping students succeed, the students are full of Pirate Pride and are quick to welcome new members and make them feel at home, and I like that the university has a strong pre-med program as well as a medical school. I am so glad I decided to join the Pirate Nation!
My scholarship has
enabled me to focus on my education and career studies without having the
burden of student loans and fees on my shoulders. This scholarship has allowed
me to save funds that will be directed toward Medical School. It is also quite
a blessing to meet and be connected to so many helpful ECU staff members and
other students who are academically driven through the EC Scholars program.
Through this scholarship, I have been granted amazing opportunities to conduct
research, study abroad, serve my community, and further my studies.
I have had the joy
of engaging in research for multiple small projects, through both the Honors
College and the Biology Department here at ECU. I am currently looking into and
planning to engage in additional research opportunities, and I am very excited
to begin doing so!
Having spent 2
years at ECU, I have had many leadership experiences thus far. Through EC
Scholars and the Honors College I have been given opportunities to lead and
serve both on campus and throughout the surround city of Greenville. I have
also been able to exemplify my leadership skills through my extra curricular
After receiving my undergraduate degree from ECU, I
plan to attend medical school and pursue a career as a pediatrician. I will be
the one and only Dr. Soos! I have hopes to one day own my own practice, with a
Dr. Seuss theme.
In my time at ECU, I
have found several clubs which fit my interests. I have joined the American
Medical Student Association Premed chapter, Global Medical Brigade, and Future
Female Doctors Club (in which I serve as treasurer). I also enjoy attending the
varying service-learning trips offered through the Honors College.
I have served and will continue to serve in the East
Carolina and surrounding Greenville community. I hope to become more involved
in volunteer services as the time goes on, particularly positions in the
medical field if available.
