Grievances Against Students
Student Grievances are handled through the Office of the Dean of Students.
The
Office of the Dean of Students can provide guidance to a student who
believes that there is reason to make an inquiry or complaint. The Dean
of Student's office can assist the student by helping the student
determine the nature of the complaint and/or the appropriate faculty or
staff member or department to discuss/receive the initial complaint.
In most instances a student should make a complaint informally by
talking with the faculty or staff member involved in the situation. If
this discussion proves unsatisfactory, a formal complaint may be made.
The student should then provide the complaint in writing with any
documentation to the supervisor of the involved faculty or staff
member(s). Complaints that are not resolved may be addressed to the
department chair/director. If consultation with the department
chair/director does not resolve the complaint then the complaint can be
made to the appropriate dean or vice chancellor of the college or
division. Complaints should be in writing with attached documentation.
Complaints will receive an impartial examination of a response to the
complaint will provided to the students.
In all cases an impartial examination of the situation will occur and a
response to the complaint will be provided to the student.
