Welcome to East Carolina University’s Academic Catalogs

East Carolina University no longer publishes printed catalogs. Instead, both undergraduate and graduate catalogs are offered online in two formats, an HTML version and a PDF version. The HTML version is a continuously updated, dynamic, edition of the academic catalog that is accessible via a Web browser. It is kept current with curriculum revisions as they are approved by the university, and is the official university academic catalog. The PDF version is a downloadable copy of the HTML catalog as it stands on August 15 of each year, when it is “frozen” to establish the guidelines and regulations under which each incoming class will matriculate. Active catalogs are located at www.ecu.edu/acadprograms/catalogs.cfm.

Degree-seeking students enter East Carolina University under the catalog in effect at the time of official enrollment. Students can choose to graduate under a catalog published after the date of official enrollment. Undergraduates have a period of five years in which to graduate under a specific catalog year. Graduate students have a period of six years in which to graduate under a specific catalog year. For all matters regarding an earlier academic year, refer to the appropriate archived catalog. Archived catalogs are located at www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/acadprograms/catalogarchive.cfm.

The university's academic catalogs are for informational purposes only, and do not constitute a contractual agreement between a student and East Carolina University. The university reserves the right to make changes in curricula, degree requirements, course offerings, or academic regulations at any time when, in the judgment of the faculty, the chancellor, or the Board of Trustees, such changes are in the best interest of the students and the university.
