Information from ECU Parking & Transportation Services
Welcome to East Carolina University! Our offices are here to help answer questions you may have about parking on campus as well as to help you obtain the proper permit to park on campus since parking on campus is by a valid permit only.

Parking on campus is by permit only. Faculty/Staff permits are sold and valid according to the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), not the academic year. New Faculty will receive a courtesy 2 week temporary permit for orientation as well as to hold you over until you are entered into the University Banner System. You will need to purchase a valid permit before that 2 week courtesy permit expires. You can do so at one of our office locations or online through your parking account in Pirate Port. Payment options for permits include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Cash (at main campus location only), Check, Third Party (where authorized), and Payroll Deduction (for permanent part-time or permanent full-time employees only).
Office 1: Main Campus – Main office is located at 305 E. 10th Street. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 5pm, please note that our cashiers will not take transactions after 4:30 pm. The phone number for the main office is 328-6294.
If your campus office is located on the main campus, then you will pick up your B1 permit at this location. It will not be available at the HSC office. If you purchase it online through your parking account in Pirate Port, you will also have the ability to choose for it to be mailed to you during the purchase steps. Please note that there is a waitlist to receive A1 permits on main campus. You can put yourself on that waitlist online through your parking account in PiratePort. *Please be forewarned that this waitlist has consistently run the span of years, not weeks or even months, to receive an A1.
Office 2: Health Sciences Campus – Remote office is located in the new Health Sciences Student Center. This located provides limited services/ products as listed below and does not accept cash. Hours of operation are: Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 11:30am. The phone number to this office location is 744-1054.
Purchase of Certain Types of Permits – If your office is located on the Health Sciences Campus, you will pick up your A3 or B3 permit at this location. It will not be available at the main campus office. If you purchase it online through your parking account in Pirate Port, you will also have the ability to choose for it to be mailed to you during the purchase steps.

How to purchase your annual permit and register your vehicles in your Parking account in PiratePort:
Visit the Pirate Port portal: https://pirateport.ecu.edu/portal. You will need your Pirate ID and passphrase. This is the same as your email login and password.
Under the tools tab, choose “Parking and Transportation” under Applications
This will take you to your individual parking account portal where you can add your vehicle and purchase
your permit. Please note that you can only register 6 vehicles on your account and they have to be owned by you or an immediate member of your family. Please DO NOT register rental vehicles on your parking account in Pirate Port. Please stop by one of our offices to register a rental vehicle and obtain a temporary permit for that vehicle.
The parking portal user interface is relatively straightforward. However, if you have problems, please feel free to call one of our offices and we will walk you through the process. *Please note that some browsers do not play nicely with our parking portal. Our office recommends using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to access your parking account in Pirate Port. There are glitches that can be worked around for other browsers, so if you insist on using one of the browsers not recommended by our office then expect to have to do a couple of extra steps to access your personal parking account. We will gladly help you through those
additional steps as well.
*If you do not receive a payment confirmation receipt in your email within 5 minutes after submitting the payment online, then this is your red flag that the payment did not go through and you do not have a permit assigned to you. Please call our office.
Alternative Transportation Programs: Our campus community is ever-expanding;
however, parking is very limited. By finding and implementing greener, alternative transportation options, we hope to provide students, faculty, staff and the greater ECU community a means not only to help eliminate the headaches and hassles associated with moving around campus, but also to help protect the environment by reducing inefficient and wasteful vehicle use.Our department has several modes of alternative transportation available to include: Enterprise CarShare, Zimride, Pirate BikeShare and the Bike Rental Program.
