ECU Office of Admission Scholarships
The scholarships listed in this section are awarded ONLY to entering freshman and transfer students. Currently
enrolled students are not eligible for these scholarships.
 
Freshmen
Candidates for academic merit scholarships typically will have an SAT score above 1800,
a highschool grade point average above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and rank in the upper 5 percent of their class. In
addition, a record of extracurricular activities demonstrating a breadth of interest and leadership capabilities
is required.
 
To apply for an academic merit scholarship, please complete an application for admission
to East Carolina University and the scholarship application available on the Office of
Undergraduate Admissions Home Page.  Freshman must return the application on or before December 1.  If you have any questions, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at
252-328-6640.
 
Transfer Students
Scholarships are available for transfer students entering in the summer or fall.  Consideration for these awards are given to those transfer applicants who have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours transferable credit with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 at the time of application.  Priority is given to North Carolina community college students.
 
Selection for these scholarships will be based upon the academic credentials received with the application for admission and a completed scholarship application.  The deadline is June 1.

Students interested in the following scholarships must fill out a merit scholarship application located on the www.ecu.edu/ecscholars webpage by December 1 and meet the same requirements listed on the EC Scholars page to be considered for the following scholarships:
 
Annie Dean Allen Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $500 and is awarded to an incoming freshman on the basis of academic merit. The scholarship is for one academic year.
 
Eugene G. Anderson Family Transfer Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $1950 and is awarded to an entering full-time undergraduate transfer student with at least a 2.8 collegiate GPA, a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable
credit and who is a North Carolina resident.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not automatically renewable, however, a recipient may reapply in subsequent years.
 
Joe H. Bostic/Bladen County Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $500 and is awarded to an incoming freshman that is a graduate of Bladen County, North Carolina high school.  Other criteria include a projected GPA of at least 3.0, extracurricular activities and leadership potential.  The scholarship is for one academic year.
 
Samantha and James Henry Newton Brendle Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected GPA, extracurricular activities and demonstrated leadership potential.  The scholarship is for 8 semesters contingent upon the maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
 
East Carolina Bank Honors Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $1000 and is awarded to incoming freshman who graduate from high schools within the counties of Beaufort, Currituck, Dare, Hyde, Pitt, Tyrrell and Washington.  Other criteria include at least a 3.0 projected GPA and demonstrated leadership and extracurricular activities.  The scholarship is for 8 semesters contingent upon the maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
 
Nehemiah and Emma Hart Garris Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $1,500 and is awarded to an incoming freshman that is a graduate of a Pitt County High School with at least a 3.0 projected GPA.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is renewable up to 3 times upon maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
 
Gravely Foundation Scholarship-Admissions
Scholarship is valued at $1000 and is awarded to incoming transfer students with a least 54 semester hours of transferable credits and at least a 3.5 grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
Donald Y. Leggett Alumni Association Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
Magnolia Belles Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year is not renewable. 
 
Donald Y. Leggett Alumni Association Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
Magnolia Belles Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $600 and is awarded to a female incoming freshman from Washington County, North Carolina with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  If there are no qualifying students from Washington County, North Carolina then a female 
incoming freshman eastern North Carolina may be considered.  The scholarship is for one academic year.
 
Parker Merit Scholarship
Scholarship is valued $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected 
grade point average.  Recipients must be graduates of Hertford or Northampton County, 
North Carolina public high school.  The scholarship for 8 semesters contingent upon 
maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
 
Pitt County Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $500 and is awarded to an incoming freshman from Pitt County on the basis of academic merit and evidence of leadership potential.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
Beulah L. Raynor Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $1500 and is awarded to an incoming freshman who is a resident of North Carolina with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
Timothy Logan Rhoades Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman
who is a resident of North Carolina with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average, involved in extracurricular activities and leadership potential.  The scholarship 
is for 8 semesters contingent upon maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
 
Betty Brown Ridan Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $1000 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average, extracurricular activities and leadership potential.  The scholarship is for one academic year but may be renewed.
 
Elsie Faith Seal Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average and demonstrated financial need as determine by the Office
of Undergraduate Admissions.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
 
The Tidewater, Virginia Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman from the Tidewater, Virginia area with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is
for one academic year and is not automatically
renewable, however, a recipient may reapply in subsequent years.
 
University Book Exchange Admissions Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at $600 and is awarded to an incoming freshman on the basis of academic merit.  The scholarship may be renewed through the recipients's senior year upon
maintenance of at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
 
Charles Marion & Sandra Dough Vincent Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $600 and is awarded to undergraduate students who are transferring from Pitt Community College with a minimum of 40 transfer quarter hours, at least a 3.5 grade point average, extracurricular activities, and leadership potential.  The scholarship is renewable through the recipient's senior year upon maintenance
of at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
 
Washington/Metro Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Scholarship is valued at a minimum of $800 and is awarded to an incoming freshman with at least a 3.0 projected grade point average.  The scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
