Rights and Responsibilities You have a right to - Know what financial assistance is available, including information on all Federal, State, and University financial aid programs and how aid will be disbursed to your account.
- Know the procedures and deadlines for submitting applications for all available financial aid programs.
- Know how financial aid recipients are selected.
- Know how and when payments will be made and the refund policy for students who withdraw.
- Request a review of your financial aid package if there are changes in your family's ability to meet the cost of attendance. The deadline for submitting the special circumstances petition for each semester can be found on our website.
- Know how the University determines whether you are making satisfactory academic progress and what happens if you are not meeting those requirements.
- Be fully informed of the terms and provisions of loan payments, including repayment schedules.
You have a responsibility to - Pay special attention to your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), complete it accurately, and submit it on time to the federal processor.
- Know and meet all deadlines for applying or reapplying for financial aid.
- Provide complete and accurate information when completing your FAFSA.
- Provide all documentation, corrections, and new information requested by the Student Financial Aid office or the processor to which the application is submitted.
- Notify the University of any information that has changed since first applying for financial aid.
- Read, understand, and keep copies of all forms that you are asked to sign.
- Be aware, understand, and comply with all published financial aid policies.
- Notify the University immediately if your name and/or address changes. You can update your address via Banner Self Service. For name changes, you must contact the ECU Office of the Registrar.
