Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

2:00 10 October 2002 Brewster B-104

 

Members Present: Batie, Bassman, Gares, Graziani, Hudson, Knickerbocker, Mitchelson, Skalko

 

Also Present: Sharon Bland

 

Excused: Kean

 

I.    The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:00, and presented apologies for Kean.

 

II.   Batie moved to approve the minutes of 26 September, Hudson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

 

III. Batie presented deletion of all CIET courses except 2210 Construction and Civil Materials, CIET 2242, Engineering Economics, CIET 3278 Hydraulics, CIET 4266 Route Surveying; Prefix  change from CIET to CMGT for CMGT 2210 Construction and Civil Materials, CMGT

2242 Engineering Economics, CMGT 3278 Hydraulics, CMGT 4266 Route Surveying; and Banking of CMGT 2242 Engineering Economics, CMGT 3278 Hydraulics, CMGT 4266 Route Surveying, with consequent change in BS in Construction Management and the Construction Management Minor. Skalko moved approval, Bassman seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

 

IV.  Patricia Clark presented the deletion of COMM 2215 and 2220 as requirements for the BFA in Theater Education, and their replacement with 6 s.h. of electives. Discussion ensued about changes in overall hours (there is none) and whether COMM supported this (it did). Batie moved approval, Gares seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Clark then presented editorial changes to the BFA in Theater, Design and Production (see catalogue copy). Skalko moved approval, Batie seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

 

V.  Under A.O.B., the Chair informed the committee that the Transition Committee had informed him that courses had been transferred from the Department of Mathematics to the School of Education. These transfers included prefix changes and new cross-listings. Since these two types of changes are items that should be considered by the UCC, the committee unanimously authorized the Chair to protest these catalogue changes to the Faculty Senate.

 

There being no other business before the committee, the meeting adjourned at 3:22.

Department of Theatre and Dance

 

Pages 135-38, Revise the BFA in Theatre Arts and BFA in Theatre Arts Education  as follows:

 

BFA in Theatre Arts: Under 3., Concentration Area for Theater Design and Production, under Choose one from, add:

3 s.h. DNCE from ballet, contemporary, or jazz area

 

BFA in Theatre Arts Education: Under 2. Core  

Delete COMM 2215 and COMM 2220, and decrease hours to 53 s.h..

Add 4. Electives to complete requirements for graduation.

 

School of Industry and Technology

Department  of Construction Management

 

Pages 290-91, Delete all CIET Courses except the following:

CIET 2210 Construction and Civil Materials

CIET 2242 Engineering Economics

CIET 3278 Hydraulics

CIET 4266 Route Surveying

 

These four CIET courses will retain the same course description and requirements, but should be changed to the CMGT prefix as follows:

 

CMGT 2210 Construction and Civil Materials

CMGT 2242 Engineering Economics

CMGT 3278 Hydraulics

CMGT 4266 Route Surveying

 

Of these four courses, bank these three, adding them to the list of CMGT banked courses on page 294:

 

CMGT 2242 Engineering Economics

CMGT 3278 Hydraulics

CMGT 4266 Route Surveying

 

Pages 216-17, Degree Changes:

Change the prefix of CIET 2210 to CMGT 2210 in the BS in construction management, 2. Core, Construction Management; and also in the minor in construction management, required courses.
